Maryland Doctors

Dr. Hertzman is reasonably competent at medication management, but his office has some completely inappropriate policies (which I'm sure were created or at least approved by him).
After 9 months of my son being treated for ADHD (medication management) by Dr. Hertzman, we arrived yesterday for our 11:45 appointment at 11:50. (We had hit some construction traffic which caused us to be 5 minutes late.) Upon arrival, the receptionist said, 'Um, your appointment was at 11:45 and it's 11:50 now, so we'll have to reschedule your appointment for another day.' FOR 5 MINUTES???!!!! Totally ridiculous. I asked to speak to the doctor himself, but she refused, and was rude and nonresponsive. I had to take my son out of school for this appointment, and he needed his med scripts written, and it seems completely out of line for them to handle a 5 minute late arrival this way. I said we would willingly wait a bit longer than usual (of course, the doctor gets to make *us* wait as long as he wants every time we come without so much as an apology) if he had taken another patient first because of our arriving 5 minutes late, but she said no, and simply repeated that 'it's their policy' that if you are 5 minutes late or more you must reschedule. Of course this policy is not stated anywhere, and even if it was I would find it to be completely unreasonable. Things happen... if it was half an hour late or something I'd understand, but 5 minutes is just absurd. We will not be returning to this doctor due to being treated this way.
